Biasing Classe power amps

Higher bias gives a warmer and more powerful sound. Highs sound rounder and therefore some may find that less aggressive. You have to find the sweet spot in the bias that jells with your speakers. You also have to know what you are doing. Easy on the DR's and numbered series. Wouldn't mess with the CA's, (more complex design)and those are kinda a lost cause sonically anyway. But hey, thats just my opinion.

Also, it's not just set and forget. The sound changes with room temperature. So, the season changes- the cover comes off for a tweak session or two.

Classe amps are so bias sensitive, they have an industry rep for no two sounding quite the same. YMMV

I have my DR8's set at 4x22ma for 88ma per channel. I think the maximum recommeded value is 4x24ma equals 96ma per channel. The higher bias does sound warmer and smoother. I experimented beween 4x19ma to the 4x24ma and compromised at the setting I am using now.

Thank you guys for your advise. I have also got the people at Classe’ to show me how to bias my CA401. I have set it to around 30mV(max. recommended). And then using hearing for fine-tuning the center balance.
The amp sounds very different form original configuration. The dealer set it on 24mV. The sound is rounder, less forward and much warmer. It fits very well with my Thiel 2.4
OTHER OWNERS OF CLASSE’ AMPS SHOULD GET ADVISE ON FINE TUNING THEIR AMPS TO SUIT THEIR SPEAKERS. THIS TWEAK WILL MAKES YOUR AMP WORTHS ALL YOUR MONEY!
