Amp suggestions for audiophile virgin

HI, ya'll.
I searched the archives and got a few suggestions. But will throw the question out once more.
Long time studio engineer, so very familiar with all the studio gear, but know nothing about home listening gear.

Have just acquired a B&W 602 pair for speakers. Would like an amp or amp/preamp suggestion to pair with these for inputs from CD player and turntable (if possible).
Relatively small room, so volume not a big deal.
Would like to stay under $500- $750 or so if possible.

Thanks in advance, you guys have a cool site.

I agree with the sanity thing.....

to avoid the lunatic fringe you could buy the stuff and not listen

:)
ive seen this before, just one little amp is all i'll need.
ya thats it, just one amp & volume isnt an issue.

here,s my 2 cents, do a little research on adcom & b&k , both brands are easily within your budget.

good luck.

When I owned the 602s I found myself listening to my systems sound more than music. Maybe that was just me, but I think they were revealing of system synergy-or lack of, and something in this combination stood out. My suggestion is that you go beyond just getting recommendations for these speakers. It was obvious to me that they liked the power my denon integrated gave up-80 wpc, and this fueled their dynamic character quite well. However, it was a rather mechanical rendering produced of the pairing. Maybe power goes beyond mere volume considerations in this case, so I would listen around regardless of the suggestions given here.
