A Love Supreme

Last night while listening to NPR I heard Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" playing in the background. It had been a while since I had listened to the album and I felt compelled to run downstairs and put it on. I sat there mesmerized and came to the conclusion that this recording really does capture more of his soul/emotion than probably any other. It just resonates. Can anyone help me out here?

p.s. I also really love Alabama on Live at Birdland and Spiritual on the Village Vanguard recordings.

Some things, like the pyramids of Egypt, can not be fully explained. "A Love Supreme" is one of them. You just simply wonder about the construction, while enjoying it's beauty.
A love Supreme is great stuff. Another one that's hard to beat is John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman. This one gets a lot of play in my system. Especially late at night:~)
Clearly one of the major ones, though, for me, Crescent is a bit more compelling and Ballads only a bit less compelling. So much greatness in his work that its hard to single out any one album for special attention.
