The day the Earth stood still?

A funny thing happened here in 'Vegas on Friday.
Almost no one's remote-car-entry key fob worked.
It was reported on the news but I doubt it got national attention.
There has been the usual Nellis (AFB) and Area-51 connection-speculation.
Reportedly, this condition happened in Washington state at a town near a Navy installation.
The weather, in 'Vegas, was typical except for an overcast sky.
Any RF experts want to take a shot at this?

Sorry, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day. I'll try not to do it again...
I'm pursuing a theory. Most of us are familiar with GPS (Global Positioning System), which works by the triangulation of time delays of multiple signal transmissions to determine one's location. These signals are satellite based. There is an older system called LORAN (still in current use, but pretty well obsolete, and will eventually be shut down by the Navy), which is used on boats and ships, but does not have the hand held portability like the new compact GPS units. LORAN works on the same principal as the GPS triangulation method, but the transmitters are land based. One of these transmitters is located just south of Las Vegas in Searchlight, NV. There is also another transmitter in Washington. Do you know the name of the town where this event also occurred? Same day? I will do some further checking, but I am curious if there were any other anomalies reported, like garage door openers not working, or glitches in security systems (motion detectors) or problems with wireless devices (cell phones, pagers, emergency or business UHF communications). Also, what were the hours of duration of this event?
