Pairing older NAD power amp with newer preamp

I have a NAD 214 power amp that I purchased about 1999. My question is, does anyone have any experience pairing it with an NAD C165BEE or even combining it with a C316BEE or C326BEE. New the 165 is more than I want to spend though. My budget is closer to $500 - $600. Not much, I know, but hey, I'm just your average Joe. I'm considering others also, not Just NAD, such as Parasound. I appreciate any advice.

All options I can afford are still on the table. The Schiit has only 2 inputs which is a problem I currently have and I am trying to solve. Thanks for the suggestions!
I owned the NAD C162 preamp which was quite good, it was the predecessor to the 165. I wouldn't spend more than that if you are keeping the 214.
The 162 is one unit that I started seeking out in the beginning on this website. I thought it would be a good match...same company, less money. I have owned NAD since the 80's and so I tend to gravitate to them. A lot of products and technology have come onto the scene since then. The options are endless with few brick and mortar stores to visit and check things out. I appreciate your input, J135.
