Need advice on loudspeakers Southern California

Hi guys I am new to the high end home audio scene and I wanted to get some advice from some experienced audiophiles. I use to be into high end cars, but my wife just had our 3rd child 3 months ago, now I feel it's time for me to throw in the towel and spend most of my time at home now, and take on a new hobby that I can enjoy at home. One of my good friends owns the Wilson Watt Puppy and I think they sound great, but he told me there are other options available. Now I am familiar with high end sound for the car, but totally new to home audio. Any advice or experiences on speakers 50-100k would be great. I have a pretty big home theater room that the speakers will be going in so size isn't really a big issue, I just need some good info, in the mean time I'll be searching this whole forum to absorb all the information I can. Thanks in advance!

Assuming that you don't use car electronics to drive your new speakers, you will need at least another 50K+ more for good electronics to drive them. So set aside for $150-$200K.
WOW! Is it necessary that you spend $50-$100K for this system, or are you looking for really great sound? I ask because you can get incredible quality for significantly less. Of course, when numbers as those are used dealers water at the mouth and you will find many offers to take your money. My advise: Do your homework and learn about great brands. Listen to lots of systems, then make your choice. Otherwise, you will be severly ripped off.

Don't worry about this remark. Some of us think that the very best sounding amps and preamps are what Audiomax calls "car electronics". He's referring to a technology that's been around a long time and has recently received deserved attention as a true high fidelity option.

Remember room treatment makes for a big part of the budget. A dedicated room may infact cost you half your budget.
Music taste matters a lot. For some a SET and a single driver speaker will do the trick. For some a bad ass multiway 5.1.
B&W Nautilus.... this is the speaker that I would buy if that kind of budget were mine. You need a lot of power to push though. I think you need 8 mono blocks of very good quality and power to drive them. If you're really serious though, look at them and ask the B&W people on there site, they can tell you more, I just know it is my dream speaker, dream is the key word here, maybe some day.
