Speaker Packing?

The only two times I have experienced shipping damage have been transporting full size speakers: both packed carefully in original boxes. One pair were unpacked and damaged by Canadian customs agents. The other were damaged during an altitude related pressure change on a cross country flight. Be very careful here. Local sale and pick-up is always preferable.

Thanks! It must've been the genius in me that has kept me from shipping speakers - I was cured when I opened a box and a one of Spica Angelus I had shipped off to be repaired bas literally broken in two......

I've never used them, and I presume their services don't come cheap, but I've read comments by others indicating that Craters & Freighters is THE place to go to for custom packing and shipping of large fragile items:

Not to contradict others but UPS Store and Kinkos/Fedex Office will box and/or crate anything you can schlep in there, but it is quite expensive. Rest of my comment above still applies.

I would use Wooden crates, make sure they are palletized, and use a freight company such as Yellow Freight. You are probably going to have to pack them yourselves - assume the worst and pack accordingly.

I've been on both sides of shipping heavy speakers and the above represents my best experience.
