New Magnepan

Word is that Magnepan will premiere a new statement loudspeaker to replace the 20.1 at CES. Maybe a new Tympani?
gladstone
I like Magnepans, and I did buy a pair of MG-1's because they very cheap (not kidding). I regularly visit hi-fi shows so have heard lots of speakers including panel speakers, so I guess my '1%' is correct and 'your 99% sure' is incorrect. Happy listening.
Gawdbless,

Your question a few months back was either disingenous, or you don't know anything about Maggies; Which is it? I tend to believe the latter. If you have heard them so often what was the point of your question regarding Maggies in October? Why don't you re-post it here a evidence of your expertise?

After re-reading that question and your assertation here they you have attended many shows and heard them, I am to assume that has been in the intervening 8 weeks since your post??
Mac,

I think I heard Maggies a the Denver 2007 (going from memory now), I think they were the 20's, if not then they were the 3.6's, they were taller than a door, or if you live in Texas more akin to a cat flap. The room was full of red wine and cheese with easy listening music ie 'jazz' being played for the very appreciative pipe and slipper brigade. I am not a big fan of Jazz and as the room was rather full and I did not want to upset the masses by asking for a bit of kick ass 'Rage against the Machine' at warp 10 volume.

My question going out to you maggie owners in October regarding an older model MG-1 compared to the newer models was because I am/was not familiar with this make of speaker (obviously) as anybody who has had them in their system over years and who have enjoyed them, and who know their weaknesses and strengths.

Happy New Year.
A COUPLE OF PEOPLE ARE SELLING THE MAGNEPAN TYMPANI 3 SPEAKER ON EBAY. IVE OWNED ONE AND ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT HAVE A TRUE RIBBON..IT HAD THE LARGEST MIDRANGE EVER PRODUCED BY MAGNEPAN. THIS WOULD BE A CHEAP ALTERNATIVE AND ACTUALLY SOUND REAL GOOD. THE EIGHT PANEL SYSTEM REQUIRES LOTS OF ROOM AND A SEPERATE  CROSSOVER.
