What is a good entry level turntable?

What is your suggestion for an excellent entry level TT around $1,200. If my TT is $1,200, how much should I spend on Phono preamp.

It accommodates many arms, but to start with you go with SME3009 s shaped arm that was often used in this deck. Musical Fidelity X-LP is excellent and affordable entry level phono preamp MM/MC with 2 distinct inputs allowing you to switch between 2 turntables.

If my TT is $1,200, how much should I spend on Phono preamp I would be looking at a new VPI Traveler or VPI Scout Jr demo that you should be able to find at around your budget. The phono preamp should be a different discussion because this needs to be matched to the cartridge; not the TT.
