Favorite guitar players not named......

We all know there names Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck Stevie Ray. But who are your favorite guitar players that are not house hold names? Here are a few of mine not in any order.

Robert Fripp
Martin Barre
Richard Thompson
Roy Buchnan
Rory Gallagher
Mason Ruffner
Neil Young and Lindsey Buckingham know but not so much for the guitar work.
also Dave Alvin and Alvin Lee

As much as I dislike his voice, John Mayer knows his way around a git-box. Elvis could play well (see his '68 come back video). Kenny Wayne Shepard knows how to "do it". Cincinnati's Josh Cole has the right kind of soul...

Definitely agree with so many of those names that have lit up the ears over the years...  I'll admit I am a little surprised that I'd get to add Will Ackerman and an all-time fav, David Lindley, to that list - both are just exceptional.

 I just recently became aware of him via The Plot record by Enrico Rava. I look forward to getting into his discography. His style is kinda of an airy, kinda trippy, minimalist jazzy otherworldly deal but still swings. At last it is on the above session for the ECM label.
