@ghosthouse - So, I really like Captain Fantastic. It was from my High School Years and I have very fond memories of it from back in the day. Interestingly, I did not know the story behind it until recently. Check out the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Fantastic_and_the_Brown_Dirt_Cowboy It's way more pop'y than the first 3-4 albums. More in line with other mid-'70's albums immediately before and after it. There is the big hit - "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", which I personally always liked. But my favorite part of the record is the 3 closing tunes - "Writing, We All Fall In Love Sometime and Curtains". I love the transition between "We All Fall In Love Sometime and Curtains". I'm really happy that I found a really nice, near mint copy of the album, with lyric and photo books. And I got it for $5. SCORE! |
@reubent Thanks for taking time to reply. Glad you are enjoying Capt’n. Fantastic. I do recall Saved My Life Tonight. Did not remember it was from this album though. Strong composition with a beautiful melody. Had to find it on Tidal. Listening to it now...Sugar Bear. On the other hand, CF&TBDC has the much loathed Philadelphia Freedom. Oh well. I’ll check out the Wikipedia article. Did read the story behind Someone Saved My Life. Long John Baldry. Who knew? Okay. Thanks again. Ciao. Just read the Wiki article at the link you provided. Shows you what I know with my dismissive attitude towards this LP. Didn’t realize how well regarded it was with some considering it one of the best if not the best by EJ & Taupin. Hey - no accounting for taste...mine or those others! |
