So unfortunately my amp of many years finally gave out and am in the market for a new one. My budget is 2k and speakers are Revel M105 which are not going anywhere. I've been doing alot of reading and naim seems to really have a strong following and their entry 5si model falls in my budget. There's no naim dealers here so a demo would be tough. I listen to a lot of different types of music and people say the naim amps just bump and make music. Anyone have any experience with the naim? I have also heard they can be bright and forward. But I'm sure speakers determine that more than the amp. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
+1 for the NuPrime IDA-16. It will open those Revels up. I really enjoy mine. I would be worried about the NAIT 5si being able to drive the Revels properly.
I've used a naim 5si for many years to run indoor and outdoor speakers through a speaker selector switch. It has always performed extremely well and is such a fun amp. Lots of PRaT that makes music really fun to listen to.
I dont think you can go wrong with the 5si. Solid and musical amp for the money!
I've heard alot of people refer to the PrAT features of naim gear. I guess I'm having a tough time understanding that sonic difference vs any other amp..ive heard it's very fast but in what way? Do all the instruments compete for an "in your face" presentation? Or am I wrong in my understanding of what that sound signature refers to? I've heard a lot of different things about naim which is why I'm asking about it's particular sound signature
