Upgraded to Proac D20R

What a huge difference! Overall sound stage has opened up and is now sounding full range. The bass is not boomy and also I don't hear the cabinet breathing at all, like others have mentioned. I have them positioned 10' apart sofa in the middle and 15" from wall, the room is approx. 24' x16' with an opening into a high ceiling center hall on one side and an L shaped into a dinning room on the opposite side.

My previous speaker was a Proac response d2. The Proac sound signature is still there great midrange for vocals, horns and piano, however the ribbon tweeter is so much smoother than the silk tweeter in the d2 and airy, the upper octaves sounds lighter but realistic. Many of the tracks sound live and live performances accentuate the venue of there recordings.

As well as upgrading my speakers I've also changed my digital path. I included: Sonore MicroRendu, HDPlex LPS, my source is Mac Book Pro- Roon-Tidal. This change has removed the digital hash and greatly cleaned up sound quality. The MicroRendu is feeding my Ayre QB9 DSD DAC which feeds my Ayre AX7E.

Great choice on the D-20R. I auditioned that before I settled on the D-30R.  One of the things that impressed me most about the D-20R was
its imaging. Easily one of the best I've heard period. Speaking of spikes..
while the stock spikes on the Proac's are pretty good when I upgraded my D-30R's to a set of Audio Points it really improved things across the board. Cleaner, tighter bass a more open mid-range and an overall improvement in smoothness.

joffres,

I have the 1.5AP1D. They are screw in replacements for the original
spikes.

Edit. so we can’t post pictures on this board?
Edit II-  I put my system up on the virtual systems page if anyone wants to view it.
Is that floor wood or sheet board or cement slab under the carpet??

Cheers George
I'm in awe of the ProAc ribbon tweeters. I have the D30Rs. A few days ago, I told a friend that the zils on Ringo's tambourine on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" sounded like they were in the room.
