Plasma vs LCD help, which is better?

Getting a new TV.
Right now am torn between a 50" phillips plasma, 50 samsung plasma and a 46" samsung LCD. All about $3000. All are cable ready with digital inputs. I probably won't be using HDMI any time soon. Will the LCD hold up better to a lot of use? Will all of the extras on the phillips just cause more problems?
Thanks for any input.
By the way, prefer to buy local/new in pittsburgh.

Looking at flat screen to hang on the wall.
I thought DLP was front or rear projection only?
If you are willing to pay $3000 for a 50" Plasma, then you should check out the Panasonic 50PX60. It is listed at $3500, but street price should be around $3000.

Panasonic should be a close second to the Pioneer but is much lower in price.

LCD panels still have a few years to catch up with Plasma and are more expansive at the same size.

Have a look at the AVS forums. Really changed my mind about what I thought I wanted/needed. So much so that I'd probably just get an ED 42" Panny for about $1500 and be happy.
I second Dtsag comments...Plasma still has the edge (although LCD is indeed catching up) and Panasonic has best value performance in my mind.
