Best Drum Solos

I'm finding that I've been REALLY enjoying drum solos on my system lately. They seem to work the whole speaker, from the kick drum in the woofers, to the tom-tom in the midrange, and the cymbals and high hats in the tweeters. And when it all comes together, they are the instrument I have the easiest time seeing in front of myself.

I searched the forums titles to see if there were any good drum solo discussions going on, but I didn't see any. So here we go. In no particular order, here are some drum solos I've found to be very high quality:

This is perhaps why I like all drummers - everyone brings something to the table either from a unique style, feel or masterful ability in certain aspects. I don’t think I could ever play like this - not in a million years - the amount of practice and dedication to pull this off is phenomenal!!

Agree with John Bonham, Art Blakey, Santana 3 and the Sheffield Drum record. I would add the solo by Pierre van der Linden from the Dutch band Focus, on track Anonymous , album Focus 3: less showy than others but thrillingly effective in its context. Am also an admirer of Ian Paice from Deep Purple, some solos on the Made in Japan album are impressive.

I would like to add Ric Lee from Ten Years After. I saw them live a few times and he was under rated with all the attention going to Alvin Lee. As far as a recorded drum solo, Hobbit from TYA recorded Live should get a honorable mention along with Frosty who played with Lee Michaels.

Very, very good indeed, ghosthouse! Seeing and hearing Gadd play is a humbling, almost humiliating, experience.
