Tekton vs. Salk Sound?

Hi,

I currently own a pair of Salk Song3s. I am looking for something much more and have a budget of $10K-$15K. My main use is 50/50 of HT and music.

I prefer to not use a sub at all, because I live in a shared townhouse. This is a huge requirement for me. I feel that a separate sub just has way too much bottom end and ends up shaking down the entire building and pissing off the neighbors. My current Song3s go down to 30Hz, but obviously nowhere near the feel/loudness of a separate sub.

I heard a lot about Tekton, but never heard them. Does anyone here have experience with both? I have always remained loyal to Salk, but as I continue to upgrade, I do not want to be ignorant to better brands and be boxed into only Salk.

I always thought that I get a lot more speaker for the money with Salk compared to other brands. Now that I have a larger budget, I want to challenge that assumption.

What else should I be looking at for $10K-$15K price range?

Anyone have experience with Salk vs Tekton that could weight in?

My current amp is a Mcintosh MC207 with Anthem AVM60. I also have a separate MAC6700 for music only.

Thanks in advance and look forward to others' thoughts.

These two companies seem like big bang-for-your-buck type companies. I'm looking at Tekton and also the Song3 and Salk Silk Tower but concerned about room configurations, especially with the big woofer on the Song3.
@dhanks   If you decouple your loudspeakers/subs. from the floor beneath them you can keep the bass vibrations from traveling to the other side of the townhouse.  I have two powered subs. in my system which used to drive the rest of the family bonkers on occasions when I played real bass heavy (explosive) material.  After decoupling with Herbie Audio Labs Giant decouplers, no problem!

Decoupling allows many audiophiles in apartments, condos, duplexes or townhouses to listen full range without bugging your neighbors.
+1 on @hifiman5 's recommendation.

I'm using Herbie's Giant Threaded Gliders to great effect with my Tekton Double Impacts.
I ended up going with several things and have learned a lot.

I tried the Salk Sound Song3s and I thought they were pretty good. I also got a pair of McIntosh XR100 speakers, which were even way better.

I got the opportunity to try the Focal Sopra 2s and were even better. I decided to stop while I'm ahead and keep the Focal Sopra 2 speakers and sold the XR100s and Song3s.

Congratulations, Doug. Very happy for you!

Terrific photos and write-up of your system and new speakers. Nice to see you using the Gaias to great effect. Superb dealer support as well. And he guided you to the some savings. Sweet.

I've got the Utopias and can relate.
