Rega Planar 3 hum resolve.

So, I called my local stereo shop to find out if Rega got back to them about my Planar 3 tt.( they've had it since Sat.) I noticed a hum that got more noticeable the closer I moved the tonearm to the spindle. Well turns out they sent my stereo shop a new tonearm which should be here tmrw or Sat. So hopefully that's the fix!

The correct fix is to ground the motor, which is closer to the tone arm when it is nearer the center of the record.

A wire to the case of the motor (and what the heck, the spindle bearing as well) and then to the ground of the arm does the trick.

Dunno why they don't do this themselves! They have to have known about this problem for years now.
Rega is stubborn , seldom(never?) change a stand they take .

There is something wrong when a TT  has a cottage industry of after market " upgrades " .
The best fix is to get a turntable not made by Rega. That will fix your problem.
I know this is well past the date the question was posed, but the simplest method is to buy a hi fi rack that separates your turntable for your amplifier. Worked just fine for me when buying  an Apollo Storm.
