I have Bobbby's album "Skyline", which has another version of "Delilah" that's rather laid back.

I don't think I have enough of Bobby Hutcherson.

My favorite “Delilah” and my favorite Bobby Hutcherson record. The way Ahmad Jamal would play the tune. Fantastic rhythm section on that record. Geri Allen sounds amazing! It should be noted that Hutcherson is not playing vibes on this, he is playing marimba. Beautiful woody and and earthy quality. Speaking of Geri Allen and amazing rhythm sections. With one of the most insteresting and perhaps the most unusual female vocalist in jazz: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QBSbZ6XhTUg https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf5cjj3PMwc https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AMmiQqvq1Gc |
orpheus10 Thanks for introducing me to Ahmed Abdul-Malik . Also glad you posted the Clifford Brown -Max Roach Quintet- it has been too long since I listened to them. Most people think of Harold Land as the sax player with them but Sonny Rollins was in the group at a different time!! Going to listen to them later. Your post of Terje Rypdal was the first album I bought on ECM because of the cut you posted getting airplay on a local college station. The music was so different and interesting I had to buy it. Rypdal's double album Odyssey is my favorite.. Another from Wave http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U8HFl7NwzDc Another ECM early favorite: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CHsZ_-9442o http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3NVBxTazvLM |
