I am honestly not at liberty to say exactly what the initial design intent was, but I do believe that it was not initially designed to handle 15A (1800W) of power. It is my understanding that now, the unit has been tested at a steady 1200W load and with a minor change or two, should be able to handle the full 1800W.
As to the design itself, I would have to test it myself and see how it works. My understanding of the design as it stands is that it should work very well as designed. I will have the unit soon to evaluate and I can then make more intelligent contributions here.
It is true that I am always looking to improve products. I first always want to be sure that a new design works as it was intended as basis of design. Once that is established, then certainly, if I learn of ways to improve a product down the road, I certainly will.
Thanks,
Dan
