Many of us Aphiles, yes even known ones of good assumed audio character here on the Gon, have sold our big dollar branded cables and made DIY ICs and speaker cables using Duelund stranded copper wire in cotton. These certainly do offer the kind of sound quality found in a great many of the branded cables selling for up to $2000 a set. Also, several branded cable makers now use this bulk wire in their designs. Also, several noted and respected audio gurus such as Jim Smith also understand how great this wire is. No, not everyone would use it because there would be no differentiation in the marketplace, no choices, not enough profit margin, and mostly because we Aphiles cannot agree on what sounds good.
Unfortunately I, like many fellow audio enthusiasts, have owned far too many brands of audio cable over the years. I have spent too much money as I look back now on these cables. I have also made many DIY cables with varying degrees of sonic success. The newer Duelund bulk wire is a special find and does offer a viable means for the audio enthusiast to spend far less money on cabling and achieve great sound.
