IMO, the Orbit is probably the best option at the $300-ish price point. I've handled most of the contenders in this range and the U-turn felt the most robust and well-built. One of the most important parts of any turntable is the platter bearing. This is where the Orbit leaves the competition in the dust. The one I encountered ran silent and had less radial platter runout than the entry-level ProJects, Music Halls and Regas.
The Orbit's tonearm also feels best in class, only matched by that of the Rega P1.
The only notable flaw/weakness (considering the Orbits price point) was an orange-peel appearance to its paint finish - why I'd opt for the walnut version.
