I just took delivery of Arics Special PP last Thursday and I can attest that there is nothing strained or dry about them. It’s mated to Arics Motherload pre driving the DI and it is effortless. I’m absolutely having a great time with it. The mid has weight and body. The low end is authoritative, deep and quick. I put on some techno on last night and I got all the low end I think the DI can muster with no hint of smearing. The highs are detailed and airy but no harshness. Great dynamics and punch in ultra-linear mode (which is what I prefer considering my musical tastes). It’s working great for me with the DI. Also, I went with the KT120’s. I have no doubt the PP 300b performs great.
Tekton Double Impacts
Anybody out there heard these??
I have dedicated audio room 14.5x20.5x9 ft. Currently have Marantz Reference CD/Intergrated paired to Magnepan 1.7's with REL T-7 subs. For the vast majority of music I love this system. The only nit pick is that it is lacking/limited in covering say below 35 hz or so. For the first time actually buzzed the panel with an organ sacd. Bummer. Thought of upgrading subs to rythmicks but then I will need to high pass the 1.7's. Really don't want to deal with that approach.
Enter the Double Impacts. Many interesting things here. Would certainly have a different set of strengths here. Dynamics, claimed bottom octave coverage in one package, suspect a good match to current electronics.
I've read all the threads here so we do not need to rehash that. Just wondering if others out there have FIRST HAND experience with these or other Tekton speakers
Thanks.

@corelli It's Scott Sheaffer's Found Music 2A3 There isn't much information online regarding it, but there is some here, including pics: https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/found-music-2a3-amplifier.4279/ And some tech info, below: "These are 2-stage direct coupled single ended triode design. Rectification uses mercury fullwave rectifier tubes Driver circuit is powered and operated as a dedicated amplifier by itself, rectifier is 82 and signal tube is 7A4 Output circuit has own power supply as well rectifier is 83 and tube of course is 2A3 PS and bypasses are Jantzen and Jupiter. UX4 sockets are Audio Note silver and ceramic. The amps are wired throughout with UPOCC copper. Magnetics are nickel from Intact Audio (Dave Slagle). Output with the JJ 2A3 tubes that are stock with it is just shy of 3.5 watt into 8 ohm. The amps are made for a 6-9 ohm impedance." @charles1dad was instrumental in his support and advice, without which I would have been lost in the woods as this is very new territory for me. Thank You Very Much, Charles. |
