Tower vs Similar Bookshelf?

I asked this question in an unrelated thread but did not get an answer so I'm going to see what kind of input I get by posting as a separate thread:

I'm looking at lower end speakers for my cabin.

I was looking at a certain brand and noticed their lowest end small tower speaker had a 6.5" woofer and 1" tweeter. These were the same woofer  and  tweeter that come in one of their bookshelf speakers. The towers cost about $100-$150 more than the bookshelf version. Both have bass ports in the the rear.

My question is: Is there any sonic benefit over the tower model verses the bookshelf model with essentially the same hardware? Better bass? Different crossover? Any thoughts appreciated.

I answered you a moment ago in your earlier thread, n80. The bookshelf really never keeps the cost down, because you have to add stands to get an equivalent sound. Or, put them on shelves, etc, and ignore the difference. It's not just better bass, either. Everything is improved, or usually so, when the drivers are up at a proper height and away from the walls (or books). :)
Not sure what speaker you are looking for but there is a set of new Klipsch RF 62 II on A’gon for $650 free shipping they have dual 6.5 woofers and at 97db will not take very many watts to get them loud not sure about SQ.
Didn't see a $$ limit I thought $650 was pretty good for towers with dual 6.5 woofers.
djones, that’s my fault. This is sort of a duplicate thread. I mentioned my budget in the other thread. I’m looking for something in the $350 range but we all know how that goes. Max would be $500. The ones you mention would be great but I'd end up in hot water.

Klipsch has a new tower with a single 6.5 and a 1" tweeter. $500 new, free shipping.

Polk has a dual 5.5" woofer with tweeter for around $400 new, also free shipping.

This is strictly low end. No long serious listening sessions. Casual listening and background music for the room. Only looking to better my existing 28 year old Bose 2.2 bookshelfs.
