Does anyone play two pairs of speakers at the same time?

Yep, I have some non-audiophile friends and they LOVE that set up.

They feel it produces an immersive sound field. You loose all sorts of audiophile goodies, but they have fun that way.


I also sometime thing about experimenting with rear facing speakers. In other words, just adding small 2-ways and have them face the rear wall.

Yes because four sources makes for better bass. Lol!

i just did this experiment and ended up burning out 4 pairs of expensive flux capacitors .

Way back, I played stacked large Advents with SAE amp.
They sounded OK but occasionally popped the stylus out of the groove.
Blew a few woofer surrounds too.
To this day I’m not fond of foam surrounds

Stacked Quads were/are(?) popular. And multi sub woofers are used. But outside of surround sound and home theatre, I don't personally know of anyone mixing different speakers simultaneously .
