Crystal Gayle-EveAnna Manley

Just two minutes ago I received and opened a CD by Crystal Gayle, have not yet played it (obviously), but was surprised and pleased to read in the acknowledgements that she has included thanks to "EveAnna for her excellent Manley Microphones", thought at least one other here would like to know this fact.

By the way, the recording is her singing a numerb fo country classics, in case you have a curiosity to take a listen.

Always good to hear of artists trying to improve the sound quality of their recordings.  Props to Crystal and EveAnna.

In the mid-90’s I went to a small 16/24 track studio in L.A. for a session, and was surprised to see a Manley faceplate in the outboard gear rack (it was a mic pre-amp, or limiter, or equalizer, I don’t remember). In the early-90’s, David separated the VTL and Manley divisions of his company, giving VTL to his son Luke to run, himself focusing on the pro market with the Manley brand.

In ’93 David left the U.S.A., and handed over the Manley company to daughter EveAnna (a real character, and a sweetheart imo. I became acquainted with her in the late-90’s at the Vegas CES). I think she’s done a great job with the brand and company.

Eric (bdp24), for the record EveAnna Dauray Manley is not David Manley's daughter. She was his wife for a number of years. But yes, by all accounts I've ever seen she has done a great job heading up the Manley company since the mid-1990s.

Best regards,

Great lady; and a hoot!  My main amplifiers, Manley 200/100 monos were EveAnna’s personal amps which I purchased from her at a NY audio show many moons ago.  Great amps!  Still have her handwritten biasing instructions on a memo card.  She and her co. have always been great dealing with for service and advice.  With her continuing great reputation, and the way things go in this hobby with depreciation of gear, that card may be worth more than the amps some day 😊 (no reflection on the great quality of the amps).
