Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?

I recently purchased a pair of speakers that I showed to a non-audiophile female friend of mine. She said they looked beautiful and asked how much they cost. When I told her, her jaw dropped. She then asked if I was using them to pick up hot chicks. Hmm...I told her the only people who get turned on by my audiophile speakers are balding middle-aged men. She had a laugh, but I wondered if anyone tried to impress a girl with his stereo system. High end is a male dominated hobby like sports cars. So have you found a woman who was turned on by your system. I have had no such look. I just get blank stares when I talk about my hobby to women.

maybe. the other day i got a text from my girlfriend that said "i can't believe you spent $1200 on that peachtree thing for your office... you're lucky it's pretty" granted this is an amplifier we are talking about, not speakers. though she is obsessed with her NAD integrated and monitor audio BX2's i got for her apartment.

Shortly after I met my wife in 1988, I gave her my Aiwa AD-6550 which was a very nice looking cassette deck to use with her piddling 70's vintage Lafayette all in one compact stereo (remember those?) in her apartment where the built in cassette no longer worked.

The rest is history.......

Sure, they care about the look of it so it matches the window treatments.
But I don't think this should be confused as a "turn-on".
Now since you bought the NAD for her that is great - I gave my wife some Epos speakers....which is about to go on Audiogon becuase she is really not interested anymore in the idea of that 2nd system.

I can say that during my time being single - not a one thought my system was a turnon, let alone the speakers

BTW - my interpretation is you are not living together. If you ever do, or exchange the I do's -
Try this exercise :o) - come home one day and say, "honey I would like to max out my (no our) credit card and purchase some 20K Wilson speakers (you know the cheaper speakers that Absolute sound reviews), with the pretty paino gloss finish.
Also that money we were saving for our vacation and kitchen renovation will have to go on hold for 5 years or so as we pay off the speakers and the 10% interest". It may be longer as I may need to purchase another AMp to monoblock it to drive those babies better...can you please move your grandmother's antique table to the other room or put it in storage so I have more floorspace"?
I am saying most of this very light hearted by the way, please take this as conversation...but i don't think I am that far off base.

Desalvo55 found bliss with a woman from the Ukraine who appreciates sound quality and loves music. Any observations or comments as to whether non Anglo American women are more inclined to appreciate sound quality and would prefer music to be an integral part of their lives, instead of watching a lot of Orange County Housewives and How to Marry a Millionaire type of TV shows.
