Looking for Wagner recommendations

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to classical. I'm looking for some Wagner recommendations. Any suggestions on where to start?

What absolute drivel. It sounds to me like you have never listened to a piece by Wagner, nor even browsed a libretto.

Like all great artists through the ages, Wagner’s music came about through a love of music and a drive to create. Far from being intended to justify hate and discrimination, it is instead an expression of the romantic nationalism found all over the continent at this time and a love of the romantic and heroic sagas and myths which were likewise hugely popular all over Europe.

Was he an anti-semite? Sure he was. Just like at least half the population of any Western nation was at the time, to some degree or other. Blame the Holy See for that.

To compare Wagner’s musical genius to a semi-coherent pile of rancid dung like Mein Kampf is frankly cretinous beyond belief.
I think if I had to prune my music collection by discarding vile people I'd hardly have anything left.
Wagner was an evil man and without him we would have NO problem with
just tons of music from decent people .Silly post !

Try Puccini for a start , his one aria from " Madama Butterfly ,' "U bel di", is worth more than all Wagner ever wrote .
No, because that profoundly evil Wagner did more than Hitler himself in paving the the way that murdered 7 million innocent men , women and children . No accident he loved Wagner .
He was the best known German in the world , both at home and in the world
and wrote more Anti-Semitic rants than music .
There are people who think it was worth killing 7 million people to hear his
incestuous garbage . I doubt if Jesus the Jew is one of them.
But as his mercy is boundless, perhaps Wagner is in heaven , I only speak of here .

Puccini was the exact opposite of him , a great composer and a good man. He knew that music is from God .
Not God itself .
