I had problems with the low gain from the Stax amp/interface too, with the 007 Omega II phones. In my case, it was with insufficient gain when playing from a phono source (okay with digital sources, but, that is probably the case because my linestage provided 18 db of gain). You can get a DAC with higher output, a linestage with gain, or a new headphone amp with more gain; none of these choices are at all cheap.
Stax SR-007 with SRM-007t
Hello,
I recently buy a second hand Stax SR-007 with its headphone amp SRM-007t. I really like to listen them, detailed low sound with low bass profile and I chose Stax because I listen classical music. However I am having low volume issue, even when I turned volume up to highest level it is still dim. My set-up is, PC USB > Benchmark DAC 1 > Stax SRM-007t > SR-007. I think maybe Benchmark DAC 1 is not the right device for this build, but I was using it with Denon D7000 with no issues. Do you have any suggestion or ideas, I am kind a stacked here with Stax with low volume.
Thank you!Niko
