Does this happen often?

Spend a very enjoyable hour in the most succulent sweet spot, then for whatever reason click on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewy8gSI7a08 and get about as big a kick even though its on the laptop.

If you get a kick from your laptop, that’s just your ears/brain adapting. THAT is what “break in” really is from speakers, electronics, cartridges.

Nope. THAT is what happens when great music is performed by major talent.

I’m sure you don’t really mean to say you know my own personal experience. We never met. Even if we had, that would be like telling me you know I don’t really love my wife. It would be unspeakably rude, arrogant, and ignorant. That would be just about the lowest worst thing a man could be.

Or it could be you meant to say you aren’t able to hear, and your brain is slow adapting. In that case who am I to argue? You're the expert.

Thanks for that one Miller.  Looks like I'll be going down the Qobuz rabbit hole with Mel for a while.
So much talent. Of which there was a lot back then. So much so it was taken for granted, even dismissed as cliche for a time. So that when Michael Fremer referred to Torme as the velvet fog, he hastened to add that he meant that as a compliment. A voice that has to be heard to be believed.

The studio recordings are one thing, but its a talent that shines brightest live.
