Speaker Rebuild

Does anyone Rebuild the vintage Kef B129 Woofer ?
caymancayman
I paid others to rebuild my 15" woofers, then, years later I bought the kit of cone and voice coil, did the job myself, it was a nice accomplidshment. Now there are videos to show how to do it, and you realize, it ain't rocket science.

Later, my Velodyne sub 12", foam surround rotted. Cone was fine. I replaced just the surround, even less money, easier.

The hard part is getting all the old glue off the outer ring, Simply persistence and the Boy Scout method of always pointing any sharp blade away from your other body parts.
The B139 has an oblong, aluminum foil covered, chunk of Styrofoam, for a diaphragm/cone.      Not exactly your typical,  reconing/refoaming job.
@caymancayman- If the lead-ins can be repaired; not hard to accomplish.      If the voicecoil’s burnt; finding an exact/correct replacement, could be difficult.      You might try Bill, at Millersound.      Also, there are some used, from around the globe, here: https://www.hifishark.com/model/kef-b-139       and: https://www.ebay.com/itm/KEF-C80-RACE-TRACK-8-X-12-OVAL-WOOFER-TS1212-B/184196571130?hash=item2ae2f89ffa:g:c~8AAOSwl-teXq8V      Millersound: http://www.millersound.net/contact-bill-legall-millersound.html      These were the go-to guys, for KEF LS3-5A kits and B139s, back in the day.   If anyone can offer advice, it’s them: https://www.falconacoustics.co.uk/      Matter of fact, check this out: https://www.falconacoustics.co.uk/drive-units-1/falcon-b110-t27-b139-drive-unit/falcon-b139-8-ohm-kef-b139-sp1044-replacement-woofer.html
That's a great woofer. I had them on my big TDL Monitor transmission line speakers.
