Center speaker placement?

At present in the ht rig the center speaker sits under the tv on top of the entertainment stand everything is on.
The wife wants a bigger tv!
Any larger than the present 65” will mean there will not be enough space for the center speaker under the tv any longer.
So only option would be to now mount the speaker above the tv on the wall.
My questions with this proposal would be delay as speaker would now be approximately 12” behind the top of the tv where now it is approximately 3” in front of the tv. And it obviously would now be a lot higher.

What is the consensus on center speaker placement from the more learned ht experts here?
Thank you.

Mounting the center above the TV could probably work with adjusting the delay, but I’d think optimally you’d need to angle it downward so the tweeter fires more toward your ears.  Aesthetically (or sonically) that may not be the most elegant solution, so considering those issues a new cabinet may be worth the expense.  Plus you obviously won’t have to deal with mounting the speaker, and the center may be more inline with the L/R speakers, which is also a good thing IME.
Yes I am thinking I am pretty much resigned to a new stand so center can still sit under the new bigger tv, its a never ending battle... lol.

Grey9hound, yes I could hang it on the wall but then would STILL need a new equipment stand as present one has the big central mount that sticks up for the tv so that would have to go. Don't fancy taking a Sawzall to it!
Mounting a center channel speaker on top of TV is a bad idea. Look for a entertainment stand with center channel shelf. Check out Salamander Designs. I have two stands from their Synergy collection, very high WAF 😊
