Need help with Klipsch R-12 sub/settings/location

What are good points to start with the low pass and gain dials on the back of the sub?  At the moment, I want to dial them in with the JBL Studio 590.  I have 2 subs, one for each speaker.  My room is 22'x24', 8 ft. ceilings with 3 big couches in the middle of the room shaped like a "U".  My set-up is against the 24' wall. The JBLs are spaced apart 6.5 feet inner edge to inner edge.  Looking for opinions on room/wall placement/distancing as well.  Though I'm not a basshead, I do like lows.   Appreciate any help.

Your doing this by ear I'm assuming.Do you have very long ics? You'll need them to do the "subwoofer crawl".Put one sub in your listening position on the couch, crossover at 60,gain at 50%.Play something with lots of low bass while walking and crawling around close to the walls until you discover the spot where the bass sounds best.Mark that spot.Continue on until you find your second best spot.Mark that spot and place/connect them. That's where they will remain for the best integration.

Then experiment with the settings  until they blend in perfectly.Sometimes they will work best firing in different directions than you would think - for instance mine are best firing at the wall rather than towards the center of the room.
JTCF:  I'll be damned!! I've never heard of this. I will definitely try it!  Thank you very much.
BTW, that chair you got next to the cabinet looks extremely comfortable.  Where can I get one?
