New Speaker Manufacturer Intro

Greetings ’Goners -

Wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves - and of course shamelessly plug our offerings - to the Audiogon community.

Ostinato Speakers is a small startup based in Denver, CO. We are dedicated to bringing high-end sound at more affordable pricing. We have partnered with a known designer who is already loved in the DIY world.

We believe in a simple recipe:

  • Non-resonant, heavy cabinets finished with real wood
  • Investments focused on quality components
  • Semi-custom: choice of finish, cabling connectors and cross-over upgrade options
  • Hand assembled
  • Direct to customer model (15-day money back guarantee)
  • Pricing as low as we can make it

Currently offering a 2-way Desktop, 3-way Monitor and home theater Center. The Monitor is our current crown jewel: ribbon tweeter, open back mid-range, and switchable crossover depending upon room placement.

Cheers!

JB

Good luck, they look really nice.   One thing that would be a turn off to me is a 3 year Warranty on a Loudspeaker.   As I look at my rack I take note that my amps (tube) , preamp (tube) , headphone amp (tube) all have or had 3 year warranty when new.  DAC, 5 years...   so someone like me who views the warranty as a value added convenience places a high value on the warranty.

Not trying to be an ass, but every speaker I have ever owned in the past 40 plus years has been at least 5 years,  Kef, Paradigm, Revel, PSB, ....  Bose, Polk,  and many other entry level brands are....   PMC 20 years , Klipsch Heritage 10 years..   Niles ?  LIFETIME  ....

Its a huge part of the total package on a big ticket item like a reference quality speaker.... these are $2300 and $4200 ?     I would love to hear them , but even if I walked away impressed I dont think I could lay out that kind of cash and only get 3 years peace of mind.... thats what a warranty is, peace of mind for the consumer and the confidence in your product that you back it for what is almost ubiquitous in the loudspeaker world.

@roxy54 @jtcf Thank you kindly!
@fuzztone - There are certainly more efficient speakers in the world!  We currently use the Schiit Vidar amp for testing (and enjoying) the Monitors.  At approximately 6 ohm resistance, the Vidar is providing about 150 watts and manage the Monitors very well.  Not bad for a $700 amp.

@oddiofyl - Really appreciate the feedback.  We debated quite a while on the warranty term.  As a very young company, our legal and insurance providers were pushing for only 1 year.  We weighed many factors, such as likelihood of passive speakers having issues after one year that don't occur in the first, cost of insurance/support over multiple years, customer peace of mind, etc.  We are certainly taking this feedback seriously and will continue to review going forward.  Thanks!

Not all speakers have a 5 year warranty. My Harbeths have a 3 year warranty. Good luck with your new company!
