Warm up time for record playing

Nah! But, I did like the first version of your post better, Slaw. That’s one; thirteen left in the bank. Does thirteen buy me a piece of plastic?  (You just had to go there, eh?)

The only warm up time needed is to crack a cold 1, drop the needle, plant your butt in your listening chair....enjoy! 

I just realized that most of the tubes in my preamp are designated for the phono input and they take time to warm up.  I don’t think they’re activated during CD or streaming playback.
Duh!

Unless you own a really unusual Preamp; it’s phono stage circuitry is energized when the unit’s powered up (just no signal, unless selected).      At least: I’ve never seen what you’ve described, in any I’ve owned, researched, sold, repaired or upgraded (did a lot of the last three, when in business).
