I had a Whest 2.0 for several months. It was pretty good. Its MC was pretty good too. However, I moved to
Magi Phonomenal. It is a hand made point to point connection tube phono preamp with two MM inputs. To my ears, Magi sound better. Also I went to separate MC SUT (based on Hashimoto transformer) which produced a better result with MC cartridges. Also, I like two separate phono inputs supported by Magi. I am not sure whether it is still produced, but you can give a try.

I owned a Vida as well....a bit more "vanilla" when compared to a Whest 30 RDT SE for example. The Vida does not have loading options either- only High and Low. Additional rotary knob for different loading is optional, anyone can add for extra money. It will give you 12, 47, 120, 240, 470 and 1k Ohm. Buyer can also ask for different configuration of the inputs (such as 2 MC instead of MM and MC). Find more here. Designer commented that optional loading is not necessary for this phono stage, it means just high- and low- is enough for most of the cartridges. |
