Trying to leave aside partisanship, how would you describe the approach to sound reproduction and sound character (not quality, though it may be hard to avoid)? I understand they are polar opposites but I’m curious how you’d describe. TIA
ebm hit the nail on the head for me. I have a pair of Tannoy drivers, in Tannoy enclosure.. You got to like them. 60 lbs and a pretty small box.. BUT nothing fancy just the coaxial design that last about 100 years per driver..
Magico -------------------------------------------------->>>>>>> way ahead in tech
So You know it was the 1990 before the Brits knew what BASS was.. Their speakers reflect just that..
You question is pretty generalized, so it's had to state anything definitive. But if I had to make general statements the Tannoy is a classic sounding product and Magicos are state of the cone speaker art. Go to Upscale Audio and watch a couple of Kevin's videos about Tannoy, he tells it straight.
I own Magico A3s which are 88dB 4ohm towers. I understand that Tannoys are much more efficient. These like Zu Audio and Klipsch Heritage series would work well and even better with low power class amps like First Watt. However, My A3s are driven well by my First Watt SIT-3.
