Surge protector without line conditioner

Hey Guys
I have a 300 watt krell class A amplifier. There was a short and they are replacing the transformer.

Anyways, Krell told me I can use a surge protector but make sure it is not a line conditioner.

Any recommendations for a surge protector since most the best one have line conditioners?Plus I have no intention in spending more for a surge protector than the amplifier is worth.

 I appreciate the help.

thanks

I think what they mean is to avoid boutique power conditioners, that are not actually rated as surge protectors.

Here's my current thoughts on the matter.

I use a Wiremold for extra outlets. No extra circuitry, no filtering, no surge protection. Recommended by Almarg.
I've been using a Zero Surge 8R15W-I for the past 7 years and find it to be non-intrusive with source components. It gives me a peace of mind, but I question whether it's necessary as I live in the SF Bay Area and lightening strikes are extremely uncommon. I plug my amp directly into the wall and haven't had any problems doing so.

The Zero Surge website has good information:
