my cd transport hungry for new music ?

Last night after listening for the first time to a cd of electronic music by Olafur Arnalds, I stopped play and then also by remote opened the tray,  BUT ...

no cd.  Empty tray. I'd just been playing a cd for sure  - not streaming -
 yet it was gone.

Retracting and opening the tray, I heard the disc rattling around inside the player.
Finally it stopped, having found its own resting place.

Problem is, it's a cd borrowed from the NYPL and has to be returned or I'm liable for $50 replacement fee.
Reluctant  to return the unit to Boucherville, Quebec,   I'm wondering
if there's any way to extract the disc from the player ?
The transport continues to play other discs, but it must have really  loved the Arnalds. Snapped it right up.

Google hifi-advice.com and Wadia s71.

The pic shows the open unit.

I lost a StaMat (it rides on top of the CD) in my CAL Icon MkII deck and when I opened it up to retrieve the mat it was MIA (???).

Hope you have better luck.

If not...

We have misplaced numerous library books over the years and I figured that shelling out the high replacement cost ended up going to a good cause (knowing that they were not going to purchase/replace the books with the funds).

I owned  the factory-modded S7i happily for years until the transport gave out.  I sent to Audio Research for replacement, but that one lasted only 3 months.  I've saved the unit for a backup DAC.

I still haven't heard from SimMoon - is silence the new 'no' ?

uh oh - sim being dead ?  did you pay in advance ?  I bought their transport and DAC because they had such a good line-up of products and marketed whole systems.  But pricey amps/preamps for sure.
