Blue Dragon and Moon

I'd like to start a discussion about Blue Dragon cables and Moon Audio. Please tell me your experiences and I'll tell you mine

Thanks, Paul

Paul, my experiences with Moon Audio are some what limited but here goes. Purchased their Black Dragon and their Silver Dragon HP cables for multiple pairs of Audeze HP and bought a set of Norne adapters to use with multiple pairs of Hifiman HPs, that was 5 years ago and have sold off all other cables because these are just the best I have found, now bare in mind I did not try any stupid expensive cables but did sample a lot in the Dragons price range + or - $100.00. The Silver Dragon have been my go to for Audeze LCD2F, LCD3s and my Hifiman HE560s and my HE1000V2s, while my Hifiman Edition XV2s favor the Black Dragon. Two years ago I bought the Dennise Had Dragon/Inspire headphone amp from them and it has been wonderful. A week ago I emailed them for a RA# to send the amp back in to be checked out as I was chasing a system ghost that kept going back to the Inspire, they emailed me within a few hours, told me to roll the tubes and if that didn't solve the issue that there wasn't much else that could go wrong under the hold, I assured them that had been done more than once. We had several email conversations as they were very diligently trying to help me with my out of warranty amp, leaving me very impressed. Now with all that said my system ghost I was chasing has proven to be the Silver Dragon cables are the issue, will be sending them back for possible repair but do plan to buy another set of them wired for the Hifiman phones so I won't need to use the Norne adapters. Have no experience with the Blue Dragon cables. Enjoy the music
Moon Audio has been around a long time, known primarily for its custom aftermarket headphone cables. In my experience it’s a well run company. I have tried two of their headphone cables - their top of the line Black Dragon cable for Sennheiser HD800 headphones. It sort of mellowed out the HD800s too much for my taste, and I ended up preferring and buying the Cardas Clear cable from another vendor instead. No problems returning the Black Dragon, though unlike some cable manufacturers that offer a free trial period, Moon Audio does charge a 10% restocking fee. I also bought a Black Dragon cable for my JH Audio Roxanne custom IEMs. I can’t compare it to other cables because Moon Audio is the only company with access to JH Audio’s proprietary IEM cable connectors.  The Black Dragon is better than the stock cable, but it’s not a night/day difference. I don’t have any experience with their Blue Dragon cables or with their interconnects and digital cables.
