SCD-777ES and cd-r's

My transport has failed, I am intrigued by the Sony SCD-777ES. I have searched the reviews and archives but cannot find if it will play cd-r's. 777ES owners please let me know if it will and what do you think of its performance as a transport. Thanks for your responses

I have had a SCD777ES for quite a while now. It has been trouble-free and plays CD-R's without a problem. The transport is quite robust and compares favorably to any high-end transport available today. I feed the digital output (redbook) to my Levinson 30.6 and while not quite the equal to my 31.5 transport, it is a close call.

I have never regretted buying the 777, unlike some other equipment I've had in the past.

Best,

Paul :-)
Yes, it will play CDR's. It's a great transport, but needs some work to make it a good RBCD player. It's pretty darn good in stock form on SACD.
I OWN A SCD-777ES AND COULDN'T BE HAPPER . I HAD A FULL RICHARD KERN MOD DONE AND IT COMPETES WITH THE VERY BEST AVAILABLE . SKIP
Thanks for the responses and I am on the prowl for one, I believe if will work well with my Dodson 217 Mk II d dac
