New to me speakers

Thanks for all the input everyone. I have the Saphire amps 18 watts each, but if the Focals were appreciably better than the Coincidents, I could get higher powered ss amps. What I liked about the Tektons was the 104 sensitivity. But no one seems to know anything about the v18.

10 years on a speaker is fine. You can check for dry rot but I doubt you will se any. I think it will come down to looks. With the tweeter/ midrange array on the Tekton. vs the coincidence setup you will be happy either way. The one thing is the Tekton speakers will be new. Plus with the upgraded parts it will be amazing. I think it is between these two brands. I have only heard the double impacts at a reviewers house. They were really great on the Classe preamp and mono blocks. 

I am a Tannoy fan. I have a pair of Churchill’s with super tweeters.  They are my forever speakers. The real deal.

keep it sweet & simple. Conceptually I am not a fan of multi-driver speakers, although a speaker with a 104 sensitivity majorly peaked my interest. I did a quick search for the Tekton V18 & came up with nada...... so???

Wyetech Laboratories has built some of the finest Hi-Fi ever made, with the 572M amps coming to mind, the 18 watt Saphires I've only heard of. But I can tell you one thing, you'll never drive a pair of Nova Utopia's satisfactorly with them. I run a Classe' DR9 with a pair of 946 Focal Electra's (93dB 8‎Ω) in a 13'x26' room, similar efficiencies to the Nova's. That said, an even more robust amp to get more attack from the drivers, like a full on Class A Krell, or a Threshold, wouldn't be a bad idea. The Saphires won't due with the Focal set-up.

Wyetech, have you considered a pair of Klipshorns? 103db!

The Tannoy KensingtonGR's are a step in the right direction, 93 dB/Watt sensitivity, same as the Focal's. But what about the Canterbury's? 96 dB Sensitivity! Better yet the Westminster's, 99db!

Thanks again for all the input. I just got back from Montreal. Picked up a used pair of Verity Sarastro 11's. They sure sounded good in the sellers room. Can't wait to hook 'em up in mine.
