Help! Is there standardization in i2s?

It brings back memories of an old B&O receiver… I always wondered why?

I2S is an electrical specification, not a mechanical/physical one. Vendors using it outside their box normally turn it (I2S is single-ended) into an LVDS set of differential signals. The allocation of those signals to physical pins in the HDMI connector is different between vendors.
