Traveling
in heavy rotation (on the iEMs):
Danish String Quartet
Last Leaf
This is an album of breathtaking music. Unique. To say it crosses boundaries is only the beginning of a description.
It’s interesting that the early music of Scandinavia has more in common with the music of Scotland than with with the music of continental Europe.
This record sounds like ECM, is classical in format and form, and folk in character.
Steve, thanks for the pointer Dar Williams. I love her early stuff but have not kept up. Just saw she’s coming through the PNW soon too. Will def check it out. Also I’m downloading Mount Moriah and McIntire for the plane ride home this afternoon. I tried MM awhile back on your recommendation but need to give another listen.
