BIC Venturi fans?

I have been using all BIC on a surround setup for decades now and the other day I connected a pair of new Sony SS SC5 bookshelf in place of the fronts and the improvement in sound was incredible, the BIC;s sounded lifeless and flat with almost no bass and muffled mids and highs. I am getting rid of them and replacing with a pair of Emotiva B1+ 

I remember those. BIC turntables were much better than their speakers.

I had  BIC 960 turntable. I liked it, but that 24 pole motor tend to run backwards on occasion.  :-)

Using some Venturi 6 floor speakers from my deceased Uncle's 70's system as the Sansui developed a drop out woofer. Clean, clear and crisp with a very well controlled bass.

BIC Venturi 6 speakers , Dual 1229 turntable  , Ampex cassette player ,

Sony 85 watt receiver .  The first system I put together , about $1600 mid 70's

The speakers played in many different positions ,  on rubber matts, on bricks ,

outdoors during parties  and even hanging from the ceiling  .

Great speakers loved the front port , a feature that my current speaker have .
