TL074 vs.TL084?

Hello!

It seems that many people ask that the difference between TL074 and TL084.

In my opinion, They're all general-purpose operational amplifiers with JFET input. TL074 has a reduced input noise density of 18nV/Hz at 1kHz, compared to TL074. Other aspects are essentially the same, and if noise requirements aren't high, they can be immediately replaced.

But, this opinion I got referred to the comparison article below which I have seen before.

Welcome for more discussions.

All the best !

TL074 and TL084. old hat fet.

Look at AD827's much better, but other things have to be good sounding otherwise they will show up deficiencies. Andy

@kakwu Generally speaking the older the opamp design, the less gain you can get out of it before it starts to have a 'sound'. Even with modern opamps the Gain Bandwidth Product they have makes it dicey asking for more than 20dB. With these older designs you'll want to run less than that if you are using them for audio purposes. If you do that you won't hear any differences between them at all other than noise.

TL074's better, new ones are 20v/us. AD827's maybe better, but I'm using LM6172's which are 3000v/us. Not available in quads I don't believe, but you can modify circuit to accommodate.
