What Am I missing? Lumin T2 Streamer DAC w/MC501's Only

System: Mcintosh C2500, MC501’s, Legacy NAIM NDX w/XPS DR, Furman Elitę 20 PFI, Lawrence Audio Double Bass speaker..

I plan on buying a music streamer, Lumin T2, and thinking of connecting it directly to the MC501’s, but like everyone else, a lot of research, time, and $$$$ was spent putting my current system together and now I’ll be going down to two components (Lumins and MC501’s). I figure the Lumins DAC is better than the Mcintosh. Is there something I missing, like adding another component to the mix to help improve the synergy?

You don't use a TT, SACD, RtR, Cassette or anything else?  That is the only way you listen to music? It's a streamer/server? I use everything, including a Victrola. Now if I could figure a way it would be hooked to the ol C2500 too. :-)

C2500 have you swapped the 2 stock 12AX7s in the "main" position to Telefunken?

I sure like my C2500 a LOT better with a valve change and good cabling. Should work like peas and carrots with MC501s. I don't use anything unless I have tone control.. I don't care what anyone says either.. They are wrong..:-)

Macs you flip a switch and it's a Line stage or with tone control either or..

I was very fortunate to finally get my wife’s blessing getting my system in the living room so i minimized and brought my best! But yeah, it’ll be the only way to listen to music for now! I changed tubes to Gold Lions, which is a little bright, but good! I was too skeptical about getting Telefunkens because of different opinions on how to identify tube markings to make sure of not getting ripped off.. I’ve got good cabling and power cords.

I see your dilemma. So do you have to loose a box? You have some fantastic speakers. If I were to work from there I might start with a streamer only. Aurender, with out a DAC. Given the quality of speakers and amp you would like to stay at that level. I guess more info on you constrains would help.

 

I think ideally you would implement a separate streamer and DAC, using your preamp as a preamp.
