Protecting Equipment from Children

My grandchildren are visiting this weekend.  They love buttons, knobs and remote controls.  Is there a good way to protect my equipment from destructive little hands?

When my children were young I kept a picture of my mother in law on the mantlepiece. Kept them away from the fire......

On the other hand, the Pay Doh was revelatory, as if a veil had been lifted, and I now recommend it to everyone as a tweak

@mahler123 That is, funny.

Maybe I didn’t give the peanut butter in the loading tray enough of a chance...

Seriously, I think there's a lot to be said for removing the "mystery" from forbidden items. I know it worked for my kids.

Actually on second thought.... Fluffy onesie and a Velcro strip on floor and walls to stick them to

Aside from the obvious (grills, unplug components, batteries out of remotes, etc), the best defense is a good offense. Have something else for them to do and occupy their attention. And if you do seem them messing about, just tell them it's broken and doesn't work. They'll quickly lose interest and look for something else to destroy (works wonders with my 8yo nephew and 5yo niece).
