Has anyone here ever commisioned a piece of music?

I mean, we love music right? Music is so central to our lives that we spend crazy sums of money on equipment, tweaks and recordings. We need music in our lives. It is easy to stumble on conversations where 10s of thousands are being spent on the pursuit. So I just wondered if it ever occured to anyone, in this post covid, tough time for musicians, to channel some of the upgrade dollars that appear to be being spent on $15,000 dacs and $20,000 turntables to instead enable the creation an eternal work of art? Following in the footsteps of the patrons of Vienna or the Lords and Ladies of Ireland, etc, etc. by finding a local musician in the genre of your choosing and offering them a commission to create a piece for you.  Maybe they will even name it after you, if you like.
