bulbs


i live in los angeles california. there's a mcintosh dealer in whittier that charges 180 dollars to change a bulb in my mc602 amp. is this a rip off???

I'll do it for 50 buck and 500 for the shipping.. How is that? PAY the man or do it yourself. I'd give it a shot if it was my MC602. 

BTW I have a MC602 with a blown bulb and a blown transformer, I tried to change the bulb too.  I'm kidding or am I? LOL

Go for it... Tape up everything and use good tools. I hope you know your left from your right. That can cause a problem..

I've changed and fixed a lot of bulbs.. Take your time or take it to dealer, either or.

@middlemass, there are only 2 mcintosh dealers where i live. the other one is twice as fer from the place i'm talking abot! well, it's only a buld out! no big thing!!

Forget the cost of the bulb.  I have no clue as to how hard it is to get to the bulb. I had a friend some years ago who had a car where they had to undo the engine mounts and hike up the engine to change the spark plugs. Not too much for parts, but a LOT for labor. 

And, maybe this is just what it takes for a retail stereo store to stay in business these days.
