You Want Affordable Hi-Fi, try this set-up.

I’m only a few hours into listening to my new Wharfedale Lintons but I’m pretty happy so far. This is what I might call my 3rd system (I use it the most compared to my bigger systems). The Lintons and a Rogue Sphinx V3 integrated. Let’s see the Lintons are $1500 and the Rogue is $1700. You’ll need stands, I bought the Linton stands but there are cheaper choices. Let’s say $3400 with stands. Add your source and you have a very satisfying system. I’m not sure if that is a lot of money for young people but I think you could spend 10K and not do better. There is good affordable stuff out there.

That is a fantastic system for the money. I believe there is a video or at least an article showing the Lintons being driven with the Rogue sphinx. The Tone audio review is a very favorable one for the Lintons. Herb Reichert of Stereophile, whom I trust, reviewed both the sphinx (original) as well as the V3, and the Lintons. He liked them both very much. Now, throw in a nice pro-ject the classic sb, or a Music Hall mmf-5.3 or 7.3, plus a border patrol dac and an audiolab cdt6000 transport, and you got one heck of a set up for the money.

russ69,

Danny from GR Research has a really interesting assessment of the Lintons on his youtube channel, and what he did to make them even better.

At about more than half the cost of the loudspeaker but he knows what he is doing.

Which tubes are you using in the Sphinx?

Stock for now but I have a pair of Gold Lyons on standby. I might have some NOS RCAs if I dig around a little....maybe a few others?
